58 BPM featuring Fiora
Label: Virgin Emi
Tensnake's 2010 single "Coma Cat" kicked off the current trend in retro-leaning, pop-infused house music, but his debut album shows that he's got some extra tricks up his sleeve, including quirky hip-hop sketches, oodles of soul and even a few tunes that touch on dubstep's dulcet side. (Also a few key guest stars, including Nile Rodgers, Jamie Lidell and Jacques Lu Cont.) Synth-heavy disco remains his stock in trade, and he takes the style to swoonworthy new heights on the emotive "Love Sublime" and "58 BPM," both featuring the rising singer Fiora; "Selfish," meanwhile, is pure Billy Ocean.
