Dark End Of The Street
Label: Capitol Records
On Linda Ronstadt's fifth and final album for Capitol Records, she enlisted producer Peter Asher and arranger Andrew Gold to help refine her brand of country-kissed pop/rock. The duo was a winning combination, as various singles on Heart Like a Wheel charted on the Pop, Rock, Country and Adult Contemporary charts -- a rarity in any era. Although her country-folk leanings were somewhat tempered, her covers of Hank Williams' "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You") and Buddy Holly's "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" were as popular as hits like "You're No Good" and "When Will I Be Loved."
