This set presents the most popular period of Charles Lloyd's worthy career. During the late 1960s, Lloyd was expanding the post-Coltrane jazz world at the same time he was turning on hippies at the Fillmore and the emerging new age community everywhere. The beauty of his success was that he wasn't pushing for crossover acceptance; he was creating beautiful acoustic jazz for the ages. In the '70s, Lloyd would retreat from fame (and its various troubles) and become a new age music innovator before (thankfully) returning to jazz.
