Il Primo Giorno
City Reading is the French downtempo duo's foray into the books-on-tape genre. It features one of Italy's greatest living writers, Alessandro Baricco, reciting from his 2002 novel City, three stories about the old American West. Imagine a spaghetti western set in the woozy landscape of Air's ambience and with organic textures added by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. Although even non-Italian speakers can enjoy the author's lilt as it lends a gentle rhythm, this album is for more devout fans of electronic prog.
